In this section, we want to go over the body parts of the racing thoroughbred. We want to explain what to look for when purchasing a racing thoroughbred at a racetrack, an auction or sale. We will teach you and give you personal instruction.
During the Racehorse Class, students will learn how knowing every body part contributes to the purchase of a thoroughbred racehorse.
Students want to take special mention of certain sections of a racehorse's body when selecting a thoroughbred before purchase. The four key body parts would be the "chest"; "abdomen"; "shoulder/breast" and the "front and back legs and the formation of them."
Hindquarters on both sides are part of the leg structure.
A thoroughbred racehorse with a slender, balanced, athletic build has the makings of a great racehorse. Ideally, a racehorse should have powerful hindquarters, a deep chest, a lean build, and a long neck. The shoulder should be deep, well-muscled, and sloped, and the withers should be high and well-defined. The legs of a good racehorse should be clean and long (I want to thank Peter for contributing this last paragraphed-article).

Belmont Stakes 2018 with Justify winning the Triple Crown! Mike Smith hand rode this powerful thoroughbred almost to the end; when he showed Justify the whip in the finals strides of the race. Photo above during those final strides! Look at Justify's muscle confirmation. My Goomba Al and Dex had $15,000 to win on Justify at Belmont Park! Along with a $10 Key Trifecta wager; #1 & ALL.
