Let's begin to the right of that #5. This race took place at Santa Anita Park. It's a race for
3-year old fillies, at 7 furlongs. The Purse is $1 million dollars. Then it gives you the information that qualifies all nine thoroughbred fillies for this race (only four racehorses shown). It then shows the Track Record: (1:19.70), set on December 26, 2010 by
Twirling Candy (Extremely fast time for 7 furlongs!)
Let's start with the #1 racehorse, Goodnight Olive- the favorite in this race. In the paragraph to the right of the horse's name- it shows the color of the racehorse; the date this filly was fold; how much the initial owner paid ($170,000); who now owns the racehorse and the trainer's name (stats).
To the very left, under the opening line racing odds, you'll see the latest racing dates of each racehorse. 26 Aug 2023 for the #1 racehorse. It then gives the racetrack (Saratoga); the Race #; and the split times of the leader at each pole. With the winner's time; who was eligible for that race; type of race (conditions); and the amount of the Purse. Ratings (which are extremely important!) P.P. # and where THIS racehorse was running as the race was taking place. Where THIS racehorse finished and the jockey's name. The weight on THIS racehorse (including the jockey's weight). The odds as the race went off and the finish of the racehorses from WIN, PLACE and SHOW. On the very bottom (for each racehorse), we'll go over the 'workout' times for each racehorse in the Q & A. We will also discuss the 'money' percentages that are given to the first SIX racehorses in each race.
Important information that I want YOU to concentrate on, are where EACH racehorse were running at EVERY pole and which position they were at in EACH race. The lengths that each racehorse was behind the leader or if the racehorse was leading.
Next, let's LQQK at the stats! It shows the LIFETIME stats; years; on dirt; wet, synthetic; turf and wet turf. LQQK at the money earned from racing- would be the last component that we will LOOK at.
Now I will take any/all questions and give you a detailed answer for each. As we purchase thoroughbred racehorses, we will put together charts of each and comments on each racehorse so we can keep a record on how each racehorse fairs.
This article and future lessons taught about thoroughbreds, will increase your knowledge of how to purchase these fine racehorses in the near future.
The thoroughbred industry needs future owners, young owners, that can start as soon as possible. I feel that this industry has many older owners (like politicians) and it needs a new injection of youth!
That's why we have started this classroom of instruction on how to become an owner in the near future. Giving young females a crack at success, by empowering them!
